Prime Time Challenge Update: NABET 700 UNIFOR donates $10,000 to the Actors’ Fund

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

OTTAWA, ON – March 5, 2015 – NABET 700 UNIFOR has accepted the challenge from the Canadian Media Production Association’s (CMPA) Chair Jamie Brown to show support for the work of the Actors’ Fund of Canada. Brown announced the Prime Time Challenge today at the CMPA’s Prime Time in Ottawa conference after announcing the $10,000 contribution from CMPA National and CMPA-BC in recognition of the Fund’s service to the film & TV production sector.

President Jonathan Ahee is pleased that NABET 700 UNIFOR could rise to the challenge and donate an additional $10,000 to the Actors’ Fund of Canada. “We’re proud to participate in the Prime Time Challenge for the Actors’ Fund of Canada,” said Ahee. “We continue to support the work of the Actors’ Fund of Canada because they support our members, and all entertainment professionals, who may be facing times of crisis like injury or illness. I encourage other members of the industry to help support our own by giving to the Actors’ Fund of Canada.”

NABET 700 UNIFOR is a union of film and television technicians that has serviced the greater Toronto area for over thirty years. NABET 700 UNIFOR currently has over 1,000 qualified members in fifteen departments of the film and television industry in Continuity (Script Supervisor), Construction, Grip, Hair, Labour, Lighting, Make-up, Paint, Props, Set Dressing, Sound, Special Effects, Videotape, Transportation and Wardrobe.

The Actors' Fund of Canada is the lifeline for Canada's entertainment industry. Performers and others who work behind the scenes in film and television, theatre, music and dance can apply for emergency financial aid from the Fund. Through its Film and Television Relief Program, the Fund will help hundreds of film & television industry professionals recover from illness, injury or other circumstances causing severe economic and personal hardship in 2015. The Actors’ Fund of Canada was the recipient of the 2011 Gemini Special Award for exceptional service to the Canadian television industry.  Visit actorsfund.ca/primetime to learn more.
