Costume Department Criteria

Criteria for Upgrades to Costume Designer:

• •    Must Complete one of the following criteria sets:
  
  a) Must have completed a minimum of four (4) complete credits as a Costume Designer on NABET 700-M UNIFOR signatory productionand must have Assistant Costume Designer, Set Supervisor and/or Truck Supervisor experience on NABET 700-M signatory productions.
  
  b) Must have completed a minimum of six (6) complete credits as a Costume Designer on NABET 700-M UNIFOR or other comparable technician’s union signatory productions and provide three (3) reference letters from NABET 700-M UNIFOR Costume Members who have worked under your supervision for the run of the show (ie. your Truck Supervisor, Set Supervisor, ACD etc).
  
  
• • Must have knowledge of the responsibilities of the members of NABET 700-M UNIFOR’s Costume Department.
• • The Applicant may be required to undergo a test to evaluate his or her understanding of general costume knowledge, budgeting, conducting fittings, union rights and rules, knowledge of suppliers and ability to breakdown a script.

Criteria for Upgrades to Assistant Costume Designer / Set Supervisor / Truck Supervisor:

• •     Three (3) complete credits on NABET 700-M UNIFOR signatory productions.
• •     Different seasons of a series may count as separate credits (maximum 2 credits) if you worked for two (2) different Costume Designers.
• •     Two (2) reference letters from NABET 700-M UNIFOR Members of the Costume Department who supervised you* in the position you would like to be listed in.

Criteria for Upgrades to Buyer / Background Coordinator / Costume Supervisor:

• •     A Minimum of one hundred (100) days worked on NABET 700-M UNIFOR signatory productions in the position you would like to be listed in.
• •     Two (2) reference letters from NABET 700-M UNIFOR Members of the Costume Department who supervised you* in the position you would like to be listed in..
  
  

Criteria for Upgrades to Cutter / Costume Builder / Breakdown:

• • A Minimum of sixty (60) days worked on NABET 700-M UNIFOR signatory productions in the position you would like to be listed in.
• • Two (2) reference letters from NABET 700-M UNIFOR Members of the Costume Department who supervised you* in the position you would like to be listed in.
• • *Members may provide references as supervisors for any position at or below the same rate – ie. Truck Supervisor can provide a reference for Set Supervisor and vice versa.
